Nelnet won't allow principal only payments until all interest is settled. your overpayment will be applied towards the interest for the next month. the old structure of school loans used to allow principal only payments. the only way around this is to figure which of your nelnet loans/groups have most of the interest paid up, so that you can start paying that principal.

ε ε ζΈζΈ My student loan was transferred to nelnet that was a hot mess. none of my information was correct. now my number of total payments made is listed incorrectly in nelnet. i was previously on an idr plan. i submitted an application to switch to save in august. i received a confirmation email that my application was submitted and being reviewed. no follow up was ever provided. no information. Yesterday i received an email from nelnet around 3pm cst stating my refund had been issued and that i had 24 hours to change my dd method if i needed to. in your experience, how soon after you received this email did you get your deposit ? update: got 24 hour email around 2pm cst on 7/6. received my deposit around 9pm the following day 7/7. Nelnet doesnt allow weekend payments! what a shitshow of a company loan a, daughters loan has a due date of 10/15, a sunday. she logs on and cannot choose today 9saturday or tomorrow, the due day (sunday) if she chooses monday the 16th it states that you are choosing a date past your due date. and no custoemr service lines open on a weekend. I just logged into nelnet and my account shows paid in full. i donβt meet any of the criteria for loan forgiveness so i know itβs not true. i had all my loans consolidated last year and credit reports show the new consolidated loan. iβll check on my account later today. nelnet is the gift that keeps on giving. update: the issue seems to be resolved. balance is showing up now.
